La Pastorela
Sunday, December 9, 2012 - 6:00 p.m.
at the historic Garcia Opera House
Socorro, New Mexico
"La Pastorela" (the Shepherds) is a centuries-old adaption of the Christmas story
as brought to New Mexico by the early Franciscan friars.
This special performance in Socorro is by La Gran Pastorela de Belen group.
This is the authentic, traditional performance in the Spanish language -- performed in
period dress of biblical times with live music accompaniment.
You do not need to be Spanish speaking to enjoy this dramatic play, told in romantic prose and peppered with humor as the shepherds find their way to meet the Christ child.
